Northeast SARE awards $5,000 - $30,000 to farmers testing new ideas on their own farms, and the program pays for your labor, not just your materials. Pat Barczys of Treetop Acres in Cambria, NY walks through what the program funds, five project ideas built for Christmas tree operations, how to line up a technical advisor before the call opens in October, and what to do if you're outside the region.

August Twilight Meeting Recap
The Werner Family hosted the August Twilight meeting and had 10 different farms represented and beautiful weather. The discussed how they clean and maintain shearing tools in their shop, then headed out to the trees to demonstrate and discuss shearing problem trees, trees of different age classes, and different species of trees. Some of the attendees got to pet the sheep while they explained the sheep/tree approach and some challenges and benefits. The meeting finished back near the shop with a tour of their tree nursery, and the group all enjoyed lemonade and barbecued lamb ribs. Thank you Werner Tree Farm for a wonderful event!
Tell Your Story!
Every Christmas tree farm has a story to tell. This summer, the NH-VT Christmas Tree Association is launching a new storytelling campaign to celebrate the people, traditions, and experiences that make our farms unique. We will be visiting member farms throughout New Hampshire and Vermont to capture photos, short videos, and stories that will be featured in our seasonal marketing campaign. Whether your story is about family traditions, growing techniques, memorable customers, or life on the farm, we'd love to help share it. If you're interested in participating, please contact tree@nhvtcta.org to schedule a visit. We look forward to telling the story of Christmas tree farming - one farm at a time!
Trees For Troops
NHVTCTA is a proud sponsor of the Trees For Troops program.
2025 was our biggest tree donation ever! 613 Christmas Trees were donated from NH and Vermont farms. Thank you to the Bethlehem Elementary School for loading all those trees and for our friendly Fed Ex drivers for taking them on their way to military bases around the country.
